Am I entitled to a refund when I cancel my subscription?

Depending on certain conditions, your subscription may be eligible for a term refund or a day-to-day refund

We charge an administrative fee of 10 euros for the refund. This does not apply when you request a refund following the purchase or receipt of another (combined) subscription from De Lijn.

The right to family discount is recalculated. When refunding one of the subscriptions, the granted family discount is deducted from the refund.

Has your subscription been confiscated during a check? Then you are not entitled to a refund.

The cost of your MOBIB card (6 euros) is not refunded. However, the card remains valid until the date indicated on it, so you can load a subscription from De Lijn or another Belgian transport company on it at a later time.

Term Refund

Depending on the number of months used, you will receive a percentage of the subscription price back. 

Only applicable to: a Buzzy Pazz 12-24 or an Omnipas 25-64, with a validity of 3 or 12 months. Exception:

The following subscriptions are excluded and are not eligible for a term refund:

  • Transport guarantee subscription
  • Increased reimbursement subscription

Refund of an annual subscription

From the eighth month onwards, no refund is given.

Refund of a three-month subscription

In the third month, no refund is given.

Day-to-Day Refund

In the following situations, your subscription will be refunded day-to-day:

  • You purchase or receive another subscription from De Lijn
    • For the refund, we look at the start date of your new subscription.
  • You purchase a new combined subscription (De Lijn – NMBS)
    • Attach two copies to the refund request: one of your MOBIB card and one of the ‘proof of loaded contract’. You receive the latter upon purchase. It shows how long your subscription is valid.
  • In case of death
    • The refund is based on the date of death. Attach a copy of the death certificate and inheritance declaration or a power of attorney to the request.
