The trial pack brings together a number of sustainable means of transport: bus, tram, cambio shared cars and Blue-bike shared bikes. Because you’ve recently moved, you can try it out for a certain period, free of obligation. You can use the bus and tram completely free of charge, and there’s no membership fee for shared cars and bikes. You only pay if you actually use the shared bike or car.
1. De Lijn buses and trams
You get a free MOBIB card plus a free one-month travel pass from De Lijn.
The free MOBIB card is an electronic carrier the size and shape of a bank card on which your ticket or pass is placed – in this case, your free one-month travel pass.
With this pass, you can take any De Lijn bus and tram anywhere in Flanders for one month without restriction. That could be in your new city, but also by the coast, in Brussels, or in another city, municipality or rural area in Flanders.
The only exceptions are Limburg express lines 68, 178, 179.
2. Blue-bike shared bikes
What is Blue-bike? Your final destination is usually some distance from where the train, tram or bus brings you. Blue-bike is there so you can cover those last kilometres easily, quickly and conveniently. You can find the blue bicycles at 110 railway, tram and bus stations and several park-and-rides throughout Belgium.
As a new resident, you receive the first year’s membership fee (worth 12 euros) as a free gift. Whenever you borrow a bike, you pay the standard charge.
Use the application form to let us know that you want to take up this benefit, and within 10 days you will receive a personal discount code by email with which you can redeem the benefit on the Blue-bike website. Your Blue-bike membership will be placed on your De Lijn MOBIB card, allowing you to also borrow a shared bike with it – not just in your new municipality but at any of the 110 Blue-bike locations in Belgium. Promotion terms and conditions:
• After 1 year, your subscription will be automatically renewed at the standard rate of 12 euros, unless you cancel it 14 days before the expiry date.
• The offer is only open to new Blue-bike members and cannot be allocated retroactively.
• This benefit can only be obtained in connection with registration online and not at one of the bike points.
• It cannot be combined with other benefits.
• When you register, you become a member of Blue-bike and you accept the general terms and conditions. All your rides will be charged for at the standard rate by direct debit.
3. Cambio shared cars
What is cambio? With cambio you always have a car when you need one, with a network of shared cars available throughout the country. Shared cars are incredibly convenient: you simply book a car and drive off, and cambio takes care of the rest (insurance, fuel costs, maintenance, etc.).
It’s good for the environment and for your wallet, and a great alternative for those who only use their own car (or second car) now and then.
You will receive free activation and membership for two months, worth 43 euros. Whenever you borrow a car, you pay a usage rate based how long you have the car for and the number of kilometres you drive.
Use the application form to let us know that you want to take up this benefit. Immediately after you’ve sent your application, you will receive a personal discount code by email with which you can register and redeem the benefit on the cambio website. Your cambio membership will be placed on your De Lijn MOBIB card, allowing you to also borrow a shared car with it. Of course you can also use the cambio app to reserve, open or close a shared car. You can use cambio cars not just in your new municipality, but in any of Belgium’s 100+ cities. Only for the over-18s with a valid driving licence B.
