De Lijn’s ticket inspection staff are allowed to check all tickets and discount cards. Therefore they may check your identity, even though they do not have the same authority as the police. For example, during a traveler check: you must present or hand over your proof of identity. Inspectors may review, copy or withhold this document.

This is determined in *Art. 44quater of the Decree of 31 July 1990 regarding the externally independent agency Flemish Transport Company - De Lijn, established under public law, and in *Art. 13.11 of the law of 10 April 1990 regulating private and special security.
