The old cards have a magnetic strip, whereas the new ones have a chip. All information (for example the number of rides left on your card) is electronically recorded on the chip.

What’s the only difference for you? You have to scan this ticket whenever you board or transfer. This can be done at the scanner near the driver or further down the vehicle.
