What aids may or may not be taken on the flexbus?

Almost all aids – with the exception of mobility scooters – may be taken on the flexbus. However, please let us know that you need accessible transport when making your first telephone booking with the Hoppin Switchboard.

All the following aids are allowed:

Manual and electric wheelchairs

Conditions:

• Maximum dimensions 80 cm wide and 130 cm long.
• Maximum weight 300 kg (wheelchair and passenger).

Rollators

Condition:

• The passenger may not remain seated on the rollator.

Pushchairs

Conditions:

• Maximum dimensions 80 cm wide and 130 cm long.

Orthopaedic tricycles

Conditions:

• Maximum dimensions 80 cm wide and 130 cm long.
• The passenger may not remain seated on the tricycle.
• Larger, foldable tricycles must be folded up before boarding.

Orthopaedic bikes

Conditions:
• Maximum dimensions 80 cm wide and 130 cm long.
• The passenger may not remain seated on the bike.

Handbikes

Condition:
• The steering and seating sections must be disconnected from each other before you board.

Foldable mobility scooters

Condition:
• Must be folded up before you board.

Not allowed:

Mobility scooters (both three- and four-wheelers)

Why?

• Safety reasons: we can’t secure them properly on our vehicles.

• Manoeuvrability: most scooters have a turning circle that is too large for the manoeuvring space available on our vehicles.
