Why is the flexbus replacing the dial-a-bus?

De Lijn, together with your city or municipality, has been giving its support to Hoppin, the Flemish government’s new mobility vision, since 6 January 2024. Combined mobility is central to this. The aim is to make public transport more sustainable, reliable and flexible.

On busy routes De Lijn is focusing on faster, more reliable and more frequent buses and trams. In places where there’s less demand for public transport, De Lijn Flex may offer a solution.

The flex areas will be larger than those of the dial-a-bus, allowing us to provide services to travellers more efficiently and making it possible to transport more people. In addition, De Lijn will take train and regular bus connections more closely into account and monitor delays, to make transfers as efficient as possible.
